- The Ethereuem network has completed its last “shadow fork” in preparation for the crypto merger.
- The success of this last shadow fork is a green light for migrating to a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism.
- The community, in turn, needs to update their Ethereum clients and run both the consensus and execution layer.
Since April 11, 2022 Nethermind (the research company for Ethereum) has been testing “shadow forks” to ensure a smooth transition for The Merge. During the transition, there is an expectation of higher volatility. Otherwise, no major disruptions are expected during the crypto merger.
