Hello Bubble Riders! This week we are sharing some positivity in the crypto world. Although 2022 was not an easy year, we hope that 2023 will bring us good fortune, as we start the year with a celebration.
At a $352m weekly average, trading volumes are down by almost 50% since November 2022, and are at a low not seen since December 2020. Crypto exchange volumes have entered 2023 at their lowest level in two years, but we hope this will change.
The collapse of FTX is one of the many reasons the crypto space has dropped this low. FTX’s bankruptcy filing caused crypto prices to tumble. However, we are leaving FTX in 2022 and we can look forward to a new year that will bring us better fortune.
On the other hand, we begin this year with is a reason to celebrate; Bitcoin, the largest crypto coin by market capitalization celebrates its fourteenth birthday today. On Saturday, January 3, 2009, Bitcoin was born. With the creation of the very first Bitcoin block—known as the ‘Genesis Block’—the first set of 50 BTC was mined into existence. Fourteen years later, Bitcoin still holds the title of the largest crypto coin in the world.
