Eliezer Yudkowskyan, an American writer on decision theory and ethics warns. Although he is best known for ideas related to friendly artificial intelligence, he warns us about AI technology as well.
- In recent years, AI technology has been the topic of conversation and has caused both fear and excitement. Yudkowskyan discusses that this fast-rising technology could pose a real threat to humanity by surpassing human intelligence.
- The growing popularity of AI-powered image creation tools like Midjourney and the widespread adoption of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, a large language model, have contributed to the rise of the technology’s prominence.
- There is a split belief in whether AI technology is good or bad. However, with precision and preparation, it’s highly possible that we have complete control over AI.
It is normal to fear the unknown, but we have come a long way with technology and to shut down something that could possibly help us in more ways than we know, would limit us and prevent us from reaching its full potential.
